Will BJ’s Ruin My Lip Filler Injections?
Well, as awkward as this might be, it’s time we have this talk 🥴. As an Aesthetic Nurse Injector in Ontario, Canada, this is a question that I get asked often: “Will a BJ (oral sex) ruin my lip fillers and cause my lips 👄 to deflate?” How can I put this delicately… YES! There are no clinical studies on the topic…. well, I mean, "technically” there are no clinical studies… but some of ya’ll did conduct clinical studies of your own. We’ll say that it was in the name of “science” 😉. Sadly, there had to be a few casualties in order for us to share this cautious tale with you today. Lips were lost and hearts were broken, but that is the sacrifice some of you were willing to make for the advancement of Aesthetic Medicine. Why will my new lips deflate after a BJ?
Well, it’s sort of like putting your new lips on a treadmill… or if your lips were a small, furry animal, like a hampster 🐹, it would be like putting a hampster on one of those annoying wheels that they run on all night long keeping the entire house awake until someone gets up and throws the wheel (or the hampster) into the trash. The wheel got some action, but the entire fiasco ended poorly for everyone else.
That being said… Your lips need time to properly heal and allow the filler to settle in. HA (hyaluronic acid) fillers are designed to be naturally absorbed by the body (completely safe) over time. But giving your filler a strenuous workout shortly after it’s found a new home is going to speed up that process x100 and you might be left with the lips you started with. If it doesn’t fully dissolve the filler then it will most likely displace it… resulting in lumpy, uneven lips. Don’t do it, girl (or, you know, guy 💁🏼♂️🏳️🌈). Just say no!

Well, if it hadn’t, then we wouldn’t feel inclined to warn you against it 😆. That’s why we recommend waiting 3-5 days post-injection before you partake in any sort of 🍆 extracurricular 😮👄 oral activities. I mean, aesthetic injectors totally get it. You and your husband or bf are anxious to take your voluptuous, pillowy, new lips for a ride on the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile 🌭, but you just might be washing your investment down the drain if you don’t allow your lips to heal and the HA filler to nestle in. At some point or another just about every aesthetic injector has received a call from a patient freaking out 😭 about their new lips that seemingly disappeared after performing oral sex shortly after receiving their injections. Believe it or not, this isn’t a fun call to receive after we worked so hard on your new pout. It only takes one quick visit to the south pole 📍💈 for you to undo all of our hard work. In 2 minutes (or however long your visit to the south pole takes) your lip goals can vanish and we have to start 💉 all over again.
What are lip fillers made of?
I primarily treat my patients at my office in Ontario, Canada with RHA 3 TEOSYAL® fillers for lips. I find that the RHA 3 filler provides the most consistent outcomes, allowing the filler to move with the lips for a more natural look. TEOSYAL® range of products consists of 100% non-animal origin resorbable hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers that differ slightly in gel densities and unique properties, which means that each one is tailored to treating different areas of the face to achieve different results. Some of them are designed to prevent fine lines and/or wrinkles and some of them are meant to enhance the structure or contours of the face.
Are there any other activities I should avoid after lip injections?
If you would like to give your new lips the best chance at survival, then we also recommend avoiding the following activities for a few days post-injections.
