Are You Hiding That Filler From Bae?
Has bae ever asked, “How you get dem bruises, girl 🤔?” after he came home from a boy’s trip? Do you find yourself scheduling your filler and Botox injections around your partner’s business trips out of fear that he will judge you? Why is there a stigma around cosmetic enhancements? It’s time to change this, ladies. Let’s face it - lip injections are a girl’s best friend and Botox is as necessary as your quarterly facial. Chances are that your partner might just be curious about a couple of procedures himself. Maybe a bit of jawline and chin contouring? I mean, I’m not telling you to trick him into tagging along for your next “facial” appointment, but… ok, that’s exactly what I’m suggesting 😂. When your aesthetic injector subtly implies that they can give him that CK model bone structure in less than 30 minutes, he might be kicking you out of that treatment chair real quick!
Why the secrecy?
Since the dawn of time women have been held to higher beauty standards than men. This is a fact that will never change. Men will never know just how much time and money it takes for us to look slay on the regular. “I don’t understand what’s taking so long,” and “Damn girl, how did you spend $300 at ULTA?” Does this sound familiar? Of course you’re going to hide the proof after you dropped a cool grand at your injector’s office to have your face snatched to the nines! You’ve been shamed into silence! You’re just supposed to age gracefully and naturally wake up with full, voluptuous, pillowy 👄for him to kiss, right?! Wrong. I think it’s time to flip the script on this archaic narrative.
Changing the narrative
I truly believe that the stigma around aesthetic enhancements will fade away with time. There was a time when men wouldn’t dream of treating themselves to a facial or pedicure for fear of appearing ‘less manly’. Boy, are those days gone! It’s 2020 and men are proud to flaunt that dewy glow and even complexion after their quarterly facial. Trust, sister, he’ll warm up to the idea of dermal fillers as well. To cite an article on Spotlyte by Allergan , about 30% of patients receiving injectable fillers in 2018 were men. It’s likely that this number has grown by now. The truth is that many men DO care about fighting the signs of aging and looking as dapper as possible.
